FiveCAP, Inc. oversees several programs that provide emergency assistance to low income families.  These programs provide assistance with rent, electric, heat, water and cooking gas.

 Minimum requirements to qualify for this type of assistance are:

  1. Proof of all Household income

  2. Decision notice from Family Independence Agency

  3. Proof of need, shut-off or disconnect notice

  4. Ability to pay next bill

 The Programs That We Provide are as follows:

FEMA: Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance – this program assists with one month’s rent or mortgage in addition to gas, electric, heat, water and sewer costs.  

  • Requirements include 30 days proof of household income, FIA denial.

  • Meet 125% poverty income guidelines.

  • Past due bill showing one month's charges.

  • Disconnect notice.

  • Exhaust all other resources.

  • Client must be a resident of home/apartment.

SEF: State Emergency Funds - assistance available under this program includes first month’s rent, rent arrearages, mortgage payment, rental security deposit, property taxes, mobile home rent, insurance for home, emergency repairs, heat, electric, water, cooking gas, deposit for connection, reconnect hook-ups and emergency household items.

             Requirements: 

  • Household income received or expected to be received in the next 30 days

  • FIA decision

  • Proof of need, disconnect notice, eviction notice, court order of foreclosure, tax sale notice.           

Walk for Warmth: Funds available through this program can be used to assist low-income families with water, heat or electric bills. 

  • Eligibility is for low income working individuals, seniors on a fixed income, disabled or experiencing a family crisis.

CSBG: Community Services Block Grant - funds are available to assist with utility services, household contents and medications.  Vehicle repair and purchase if you are working or attending school full time.   

            Requirements: 

  • Household income for 12 months preceding date of application.

  • Homeless or living in shelter

  • Court ordered eviction or foreclosure

  • Shut-off notice
